Ben Affleck asked to the makers of a documentary to not reveal that he had an ancestor that owned slaves , info that were published later by Wikileaks.

The actor turned to be the subject of an episode of "Finding Your Roots", from PBS channel , which eventually chose not to use the same information.

Henry Louis Gates from Harvard University and host of the show , asked to Michael Lynton, CEO of Sony , an advice to find a proper way to deal with the star's request, known for its support for liberal causes, who was at the time filming "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" in Detroit.
Both Gates and Lynton decided that by censoring that same information that could undermine the editorial integrity . And it would be even worse if it were known.

Eventually, the show issued on 14 October of the same year that they left out the information, and Gates defended that this was not censorship but a choice when they found that Affleck had other more appealing ancestors to speak of, adding that Slave Owners were very common back then and they already had two guests with the same kind of ancestors, so it would be nice for a change to introduce someone different.
Therefore they've decided to proceed with the story of a fascinating Affleck's ancestor that became interested in the occult following the Civil War.
