New sci-fi movie uses a robot as a metaphor for the practice of bullying

Every child comes into the world full of promise, and none more so than Chappie: he is gifted, special, a prodigy. Like any child, Chappie will come under the influence of his surroundings - some good, some bad - and he will rely on his heart and soul to find his way in the world and become his own man. But there's one thing that makes Chappie different from anyone else: he is a robot. The first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. His life, his story, will change the way the world looks at robots and humans forever.

Chappie is an upcoming film about a robot named "Chappie" that has been programmed with artificial intelligence to think, act and feel for himself.

The film will mark the third time of Blomkamp as the director of a full-length movie, and is supposed to be an adaptation of Blomkamp's 2004 short, Tetra Vaal, with elements from the 2006 short Tempbotwhich, who features a similar-looking robot as a protagonist.

The film is scheduled to be released on March 6, 2015, by Columbia Pictures, and it will feature actors like, Sharlto Copley, Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, and Sigourney Weaver, as well Ninja and Yolandi Visser from the rap/rave group Die Antwoord.
